On the 1st December 2020, Ethereum Classic completed the Thanos hard fork upgrade preventing ASIC miners from dominating the mining field, bringing back fair distribution for tokens and keeping GPU mining relevant. This upgrade reduced the DAG size to 2.47GB allowing earlier generation 4GB and 3GB graphics cards to continue mining and provide greater distribution.

The first phase of the Ethereum 2.0 Upgrade (Proof of Stake) commenced on the 1 Dec 2020. When the later phases of the upgrade complete, existing miners will seek alternative coins to mine such as Ethereum Classic (ETC), Ravencoin (RVN), Beam, BitTubeCash (TUBE) all of which use Proof of Work.

In Mining Rig Gear
AusRigs have recently installed the Asus Prime H470 motherboard hosting 5 MSI RX 5700 XT Gaming X Graphics Cards. This Motherboard replaced an older (DDR3 MB) which could only support 3 GPUs. This MB has 6 PCIe slots and 2 M2 slots which could enable the motherboard to run 7 or 8 GPUs. Mining Gear included: Motherboard: ASUS Prime H470 Plus CPU: Intel Celeron G5900 LGA 1200 RAM: DDR4 HyperX FURY PSU: SilverStone 1200W 80+Platinum Strider Modular Power Supply Risers: PCIe Riser v006C HardDisk: SanDisk Ultra Luxe USB 3.1 Flash Drive 32GB PCIe Power Cable Splitters: 16 AWG 8Pin PCIe to Dual 8Pin PCie (Please note the AWG rating is extremely important to avoid damaging your equipment as a result of the cables heating up too much and effectively frying the sockets of your hardware. The 16 AWG rated cables allow temperatures up to 80°C (176°F) and around 400 Watts. This is more than enough if you plan on splitting a single 8Pin into 2 via a PCIe splitter. In SimpleMining Operating System
AusRigs.com has moved all rigs to SimpleMining OS from Ethos. In doing so we saw an increased hashrate for all RX 580 GPUs and reduced power consumption using the SimpleMining OS recommended settings. SimpleMining OS provides out of the box configuration that simplifies mining configuration and management. Cheers, AusRigs.com

In RX 6800 XT - Ethereum Mining
At this stage, AusRigs.com doesn't own any RX 6800 XT Graphics Cards. If you can achieve a higher hash rate than 64.5 MH/s and comparable power draw, please let us know. We are keen to see what other RX 6800 XT Miners have been able to achieve. AusRigs.com

We are able to achieve a 29-30 MH/s Hash Rate using the MSI RX 580 Armor 8GB OC Graphics Card with the PolarisOneClick BIOS Editor with the following settings: We are using the ethOSDistro Operating System for our RX 580 Ethereum Mining Rig. This was to improve stability as these 2 cards failed after 2-3 days on 820 vlt setting. Upping the vlt by 20 for these 2 GPUs improved the stability and they now run 24/7 with no failure or requirement for rig reboot. Hash rates varied from between 29.2 MH/s - 31 Mh/s. Hope this help those running an RX 580 Mining Rig AusRigs.com
